What you will do:
The Manager Flight Standards will establish and modify procedures in the Aircraft Operating Manual; assure compliance with established operating procedures; coordinate the scheduling and accomplishment of all Line Checks, Proficiency Checks, and required Flight Training; work as an SME with the Manager of Flight Crew Training; develop, in coordination with Maintenance, the necessary revisions to the aircraft Minimum Equipment List (MEL); participate with Maintenance Engineering on aircraft modifications by acting as the Flight Operations SME; ensure Boeing FCOM/FCTM or best practices are incorporated into ABX Air Flight Crew procedures; maintain a good working knowledge of FSIMS 8900.1 and its use in developing pilot manuals and pilot policies; ensure all simulators and training devices meet the standards required by the ABX Air service level agreements; oversee airline standards, conducting simulator and line training and proficiency checks as a Company check airman and type check as an APD/TCE; participate with the Chief Pilot in the selection of Line and Simulator Check Airman and maintain an adequate staff of Flight Instructors and Check Airmen; oversee Line and Simulator Check Airman; chair and conduct Quarterly Check Airman meetings; coordinate all Ferry Flights, Functional Check Flights; maintain flight currency for domestic and international/ETOPS flights; serve as SME as it relates to aircraft systems, procedures and flight operations; work with engineering and maintenance departments as it relates to Supplemental Type Certificates (STCs) and Engineering Orders; participate with the Chief Pilot's Office in the selection of new hire pilots; participate in RVSM program and the quality of the process; maintain readiness and serving as the Flight Operations SME on any possible accident Investigation team.  Some domestic and international travel for business and training is required.


What you need:

  • Must have High School Diploma/GED
  • ATP with turbo-jet type rating
  • Minimum flight time 2500 hours
  • Experience with FAR Part 121 training programs
  • Knowledge of FARs related to training programs
  • Strong written and oral communication skills needed to interact with the FAA and produce written manuals and guidance
  • Must be self-motivated and able to work with limited direction
  • Must be able to pass all FAA and TSA requirements for personnel in a Part 121 and/or Part 142 training school

Preferred Skills:

  • Bachelor's Degree
  • B767 type rating with experience as FAR 121 line check airman
  • Experience in all aspects as flight simulator instructor in airline environment
  • 1000 hours as PIC for FAR 121 airline
  • Previous experience as flight crew member (pilot) for a FAR 121 airline
  • Experience in developing flight training materials and programs for instruction to flight crewmembers
  • Previous program development in aircraft and procedural training
  • Previous program development/implementation and conducting training using AQP
  • Experience with FAR Part 142 training programs
